THE BUILDING ENVELOPE

The building envelope separates interior and exterior environments and provides a thermal barrier for the conditioned space inside. The components of the building envelope are the foundation, roof, exterior doors, walls and windows. The goal for a high-performance building is to make a building envelope that has a high resistance to thermal transfer while providing protection from water infiltration, and a method for water that does enter to leave without causing lasting harm to the building or it’s occupants.
